Individual patients can benefit from a partial (unicompartmental) knee replacement or a full (total) knee replacement.
Patient-Specific Instrumentation (PSI), uses computer technology to perfectly align the knee replacement for a better fit and smoother recovery. Similar to the SignatureTM knee replacement an MRI scan is required prior to surgery to take precise, three-dimensional (3-D) measurements of your knee and this scan is then used to develop an individual patient specific model of the knee.
Using this 3-D image and specialized computer software, a detailed plan is then created for your surgery, including customized instrumentation that shows exactly how your new knee should be positioned.
